Why I Love Direct Holidays For My Yearly Vacation.

Posted in Uncategorized by barbaric on the March 1st, 2010

Sometimes travel agents make booking your own holiday sound harder than it really is.

Thats because they have a vested interest in keeping people coming to them.

They want to keep their profits up.

Lots of people are quite happy with the service they get from their travel agents and wouldn’t have it any other way. They don’t want the work involved planning and booking vacations.

But not everyone wants to book a standard package holiday.

And I’m one of them.

I’ve found that the Internet has revolutionized how I plan my vacations and short breaks.

Not only does it save me money but it also gives me tremendous freedom with my travel plans.

It is really very easy to plan your city breaks direct.

When I first started I was a bit wary of booking things and scared that I might make some mistake that would cost me a lot of money.

A lot of people, when they first start, are scared to book accommodation and flights in case something goes wrong.

It’s the same old story the more you do it the easier it becomes.

Now there are very few places that I wouldn’t make my own arrangements for my family holiday breaks arrangements.

My experience is that by making all my own arrangements I increase the pleasure I get from my vacations, holidays and breaks. I also meet some wonderful people from different regions of the world.

Now, I fully design my own itinerary and enjoy a more informal and fun vacation experience.

The main thing to always remember when booking things online is to remain safe.

Never give your bank details away and only deal with site that are secure.

Use credit cards to pay not debit cards. You have protection using a credit card you don’t with debit.

Always get email receipts and firm confirmation of everything you have agreed to.

If you don’t feel happy about something, don’t do it. A few pounds saved isn’t worth losing sleep over.

Your planning and booking etc should be a joy not a chore.

Give yourself plenty of time. Don’t rush it.

First choose your dates because the more flexible your dates are the better deals you will be able to find.

Then have a broad look around at where you want to go. Find out what the broad-brush prices are for accommodation and trips etc, and when are the best times to go.

Once you’ve put together an itinerary begin to firm up your arrangements.

When booking flights find good flight search engines that will give lots of comparisons.

You can find a good selection at www.travelandshortbreaks.com/find-flights or similiar pages.

When booking accommodation check out the reviews before you book. You could use www.tripadvisor.com, which is one I use. I don’t always use them to book though because I look for price comparisons first at www.travelandshortbreaks.com/hotels.

When you know when and where you are going spend sometime visiting websites to get information on what to see and do.

From these searches you will be able to book sight seeing trips etc over the web.

Taxis, transfers, lounges, parking and insurance can all be done direct.

Building a direct vacation around your exact needs is not hard.

Give it a go!

You’ll Enjoy Hiking With Family In The Wyoming Wilderness

Posted in Uncategorized by barbaric on the November 17th, 2009

Hiking in the Mountains of Wyoming

Hiking is like a mini-adventure. It lets you take a break from your ordinary routine without the time and expense involved in “real” vacations. You can see new things, have different experiences, and, if you wish, test yourself physically. If you live in Wyoming, you never lack for Wyoming hiking opportunities. The State has an large quantity of world-class hiking trails, far enough away to give that secluded feeling yet still relatively nearby.

Like any other activity, Wyoming hiking is a great way to enjoy yourself and simply have fun. However, if you want to get the most out of it and have the best experience, safety comes first. Here are some tips to help you stay safe and secure even while Wyoming hiking:

Be Prepared

It’s a scout’s motto, but even for Wyoming hikers, it’s a fine motto to adopt. Wilderness activities like Wyoming hiking involve numerous risks. But most of these risks can be simply avoided or at a minimum mitigated if you keep in mind your basic understanding about outdoor survival and readiness.

The primary thing you need to do is to be acquainted with what risks you’ll probably be facing. The thought of being in the Wyoming mountain wild areas evokes all sorts of terror and adventure tales of impending calamities when in fact the most common risk anyone faces is pretty mundane – getting wet and cold.

As with nearly all hiking trips, Wyoming hiking requires that you lessen your load as much as you can. That by itself is not much trouble, if only you knew exactly what you’re going to run into on a hike. Your lack of experience is never more emphasized than when it’s your first time being in that mountains. So odds are you are going to end up packing your backpack with all sorts of “emergency” fundamentals, when the only gear you really need are things that can help you cope with rain storms, rapid drops in temperature, strong winds, injuries, fatigue, getting lost, and animal encounters.

It gets easier if you stick to the following prudent practices when you go Wyoming hiking:

·Steer clear of hiking alone. Even a slight injury or mishap can turn into a potential major problem if there is no one nearby to assist you.
·Before you hike out from a trailhead, make certain that you leave some sort of information about what trail you are going to stick to, what time you left, etc. That way, if you fail to return after an extremely long time, somebody will know where to find you. Nevertheless, be careful about leaving any specific information as not every person has good intentions.
·Let an acquaintance in town know where you are heading and at what time you mean to be back. If you don’t make it back, they can notify the authorities.
·Take along a cell phone if you have one in case of an emergency that requires assistance. In many cases in the wilderness, you will not be able to get a cell phone connection due to steep terrain, being in a valley, or distance. In spite of this, even if you cannot in the beginning connect through, you or someone else can ascend to a ridgeline or peak and have a better likelihood for a connection from there.
